Bella vs. the Blue-Footed Boobies

Sigh. I just can't compete. Last year, my parents left me behind to hang out with penguins in Antarctica. Tomorrow, my Mom is leaving on a 10-day trip to the Galapagos Islands, home of the blue-footed boobies.

What's up with all the stoopid birds? I mean, look at those freaky feet! At least I get to hang out at home with Dad, since he's not going on this trip. That means I'll be getting LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of extra snackies (Shhh. Don't tell him that I told you this, but he's a real pushover. I just have to put on my best "sad" face and he gives me a little treat.)

Pink is My Favorite Color

Which one is more pink: My tongue or the little loofa dog?

While I'm on the subject of pink, did you know that PINK is: the name of a singer; the name of a magazine; the name of a men's shirt brand; and the name of Victoria Secret's loungewear? I guess I have pink on the brain because Valentine's Day is coming up.

Intruder Alert!

Who is this cat and why is it meowing around our front door trying (and succeeding) to get Mom's attention? Let me just say, neither Dad nor I are ONE BIT HAPPY ABOUT THIS SITUATION!!

Bella's Mom here: This cute kitty has been hanging out on our front porch for a week now. She stares at Bella through the front door, which drives Bella wild! She has no collar, but she's really sweet and I think she must have been someone's pet although nobody's turned up looking for her. I'd love to bring her inside, but Bella's not cooperating one bit (neither is her Dad). Fortunately, the little boy next door has also taken a liking to her and I'm hoping he'll convince his parents to adopt her.

Enjoying the Last Rays of Summer

Look at Mom's pretty fuschia in the background. Too bad that it'll soon be dead, shriveled by the cold and dreary Portland rain. Can you tell that I really hate the winter? Does anybody in San Diego or Phoenix need a boxer roommate? Call me.

Scared Straight

I was a bit ticked off that Mom and Dad went out into the wilderness without me this past weekend (they even made themselves turkey-and-cheese sandwiches, which they KNOW are my FAVORITE! Cruel and thoughtless, I tell you).

But after Mom showed me this picture from her camera, I was pretty glad that I stayed at home. Yikes!

$25 Million, Baby

If somebody is *bleeping* crazy enough to pay $20 million for a picture of Angelina Jolie's twins, then my parents really missed the boat......

'Cuz this could've gone for a cool $25 million! Humans are totally, completely crazy.

Mr. Yosuke Nakamura

Mom thinks the story about Yosuke, the African Grey Parrot who got lost in Tokyo, is hysterical. He was returned safely because he was able to tell people where he lives. Unfortunately, Yosuke makes me look bad. I don't even recognize our own street. All I know is that we live in a yellow house with pretty flowers on the outside and lots of snackies and stuffies on the inside. I guess that's why the aliens planted an evil microchip in the back of my head.

My Heimatland

Mom's been giving me a little history lesson this week, about the origins of the Boxer. The breed got started in Germany around 1830 as a cross between an early form of the English Bulldog and the Brabanter Bullenbeisser. Interestingly, the first Boxers were white! The Boxer was introduced to the United States around the turn of the century and shortly after, in 1915, the first Boxer Champion was recognized by the American Kennel Club. Anyway, Mom's been giving me all this information because she's leaving me on Sunday to go to Germany for ONE WHOLE WEEK! I'm kind of sad, but she explained that she's going because her grandmother is turning 90 years old. I guess that qualifies as a good excuse. Plus, when I stay home alone with Dad he feels sorry for me and doubles up on my food. I just have to bat my eyelashes a couple of times and my bowl gets filled up again.

(Hey, Miss Bella, this is your Mom speaking. I have given your Dad explicit instructions to *NOT* overfeed you. Remember what the vet said this week? We need to keep an eye on your expanding waistline!).

MOM! That's not cool, telling everyone about my weight! If I remember correctly, you said you were trying to lose 5 lbs. before going to Germany and I saw you scarf down two big slices of pizza yesterday.

Now we're even....
