Earth Day: Bella's Tribute to Dirt

Happy Earth Day, Everybody! Mom and I have been sorting our plastics this week, planting native shrubs in the garden, and recycling some of our old dog toys so that other pups can enjoy them.

I've also been driving Mom a little crazy by snacking on the compost that she put all around the rose bushes. She thinks it's gross, I think it's a delicacy. It just proves that some things never change, since I've loved dirt and compost since I was a puppy.

So, as a tribute to Mother Earth and DIRT, GLORIOUS DIRT, I thought I'd do a little photo tribute.

Here I am, just 10 weeks old, nibbling on the fresh and delicious buds of Mom's rose bushes:

Love the One You're With

Wow, I can't believe it but this February is the THIRD anniversary of my blog, Bella's Boxer Shorts. Way back in February 2006 I came home to live with Mom and Dad in Portland. As soon as my parents carried me out of the car, I met my forever boyfriend, Norman. Norman lived across the street until last year and then he moved far, far away with his parents. I've had a couple of love interests since then, but nothing really compares to your first true love.

So, Norman, I hope you have a happy Valentine's Day even if you are dating someone else right now. And, as the saying goes, "If you can't be with the one you love, then love the one you're with!"

Party Like It's 2009!

Yup, that's right....yesterday was my birthday (I turned 3 years old) and it was also New Year's Eve which made it a double party!! Actually, the festivities were fairly mellow, considering that we're all getting older, especially Mom and Dad. Tee-hee.

They sat around drinking champagne while watching me open my presents, which included a pink loofah toy, a Nylabone dinosaur to chew on, and some yummy bacon-flavored treats. Oh, how I love bacon.

As part of the New Year's Eve tradition, we all shared our goals and resolutions for the upcoming year. Here are mine:

1. I will stop sneaking up to Mom's side of the bed at 5:00 AM, because sitting and staring at her like a ghost freaks her out (she says it reminds her of those Egyptian dogs that accompany their masters into the netherworld).
2. I will stop racing into the kitchen anytime I hear a cabinet, drawer or plastic bag being opened.
3. I will be more flexible about mealtimes, i.e., I won't start squealing next to Mom's desk at promptly 6:00 PM (I will wait until 6:05 PM).
4. I will stop jamming my rope toy into Dad's leg while he's trying to work.
5. I will let Mom trim my nails and clean my ears without acting like I'm being tortured.
6. I will stop peeing right in the middle of the newly reseeded lawn (which needs to be reseeded again, by the way).
7. I will update my blog more often (FYI...big changes are in the works!)
8. I will work harder on my commands so that Mom and I can do Animal Assisted Therapy.
9. I will stop wiping my mouth on the nice living room couch (or Dad's pants leg) every time I take a drink of water.
10. I'll forget the self analysis and continue to find joy in every single day! Hooray!!

The Best Part of Christmas

Aire Ruby Wins Airline-of-the-Year!

Hey Pups,

If you weren't onboard Aire Ruby this past Wednesday, you missed out on the flight of a lifetime. My buddy Ruby is not just a fellow diva, she's also an accomplished airline pilot. Check it out:

Anyway, Aire Ruby just celebrated its one-year anniversary with a trip around the world. Believe me, it was first-class all the way....they didn't make us pay for the peanuts and the drinks were free! The groupies on Bon Jovi's airplane couldn't have partied any harder than we did. Thanks to Asta, there's even photographic proof:

And, if you can believe it, there was even a PAWTINI FOUNTAIN!! I'd like to say that I abstained, but oh...my...dog...those pawtinis were dee-lish-ous. As you can see in the picture below, I indulged in a few too many which made the takeoffs and landings a bit difficult (so let me just say that I'm very, very, very sorry if I yakked on anybody. I hope you'll invite me again.)

A Very Special Valentine's Day

I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside today! My very first Valentine's card came from Powder-Puff. It arrived in a big envelope and was in the shape of a pretty pink heart:

I also got some PAWSOME e-cards from Moco & Grammie and Mack Beans (who is trying very hard to woo the lovely Ruby Blue. Good Luck, Mack!).

My human cousins Taylor and Brandon, who live far away in New Yawk, sent me some sweet Valentine's presents--including some excellent snackies in the shape of animals and some biodegradable poop bags (ok, ok, the bags aren't really romantical but they sure are practical. My Mom was very excited by them). Here's a photo:

Lastly, the mailman came to the door this afternoon and brought a stack of cards! I got love notes from The Brat Pack, The Zoo Crew, Crikit, Sparky & Ginger, Butchy & Snickers, and Randi the Lab Newf. Plus, I heard from my super-sexy boyfriend Kaiser that his card is on the way, too! Check it out:
